Consulting Experience (selected accomplishments)
• 2020-21 Food Manufacturing (US, IN) – Operations: Designed and implemented an MOS for all six production lines. Designed and implemented performance management tools, upgraded shop floor tools and updated processes (Gemba Walks, Walkthrough Shift Handovers). Installed Short Interval Controls to monitor production on an hourly basis, an escalation process, and designed / installed Tableau dashboards to review performance on a shift / daily / weekly basis [safety, quality, cost, delivery metrics]. Trained management on RCCA, Variance Management, Active Management Behaviors and on Effective Meetings. Implemented a SharePoint Action Log for sustainability.
• 2020 Foundry (US, AL) – Operations: Worked on designing and implementing the MOS for all production lines. Designed and implemented performance management tools, upgraded systems and updated processes. Installed Short Interval Controls to monitor production on an hourly basis, installed display monitors to broadcast live performance metrics on the shop floor and via SharePoint for senior management to access from anywhere to drive accountability. Designed and implemented a MS SharePoint Action Log for scalability and sustainability.
• 2020 Aerospace (US, CA) – Airline MRO / SFO: PW4000 + V2500 Engines Area. Initiated MOS redesign with mechanics, leads, and area managers (work standards, visual boards, shopfloor routines, shift start meetings, RCCA process).
• 2019 Nickel Mine (South Pacific) – Mine Operations & Mobile Maintenance: Reviewed the mining process and identified key improvement opportunities (Mine Planning, Exploration, Geology, Drill & Blast, Load & Haul, Ore Processing, Maintenance). Worked on designing and implementing the MOS for Heavy Mobile Equipment Maintenance Operations. Reviewed and issued recommendations on major mining and maintenance contracts up for renewal.
• 2019 Gypsum Mine (US, OK) – Operations: Worked on designing and implementing the MOS. Worked on a Kaizen event to identify best practices to mine the gypsum with the planer (various speeds, depth) and identified mine planning and bench optimization opportunities.
• 2018 Oil Sands Mine (Canada) – Supply Chain: Spend $3B in scope. Organized Vendor Forum to reduce spend. Helped identify incumbents and top-level non-incumbents, ensured large presence at the Vendor Forum (500+ guests).
• 2016-19 Aerospace Supplier (UK-US) – Manufacturing (F35, F22, B2, U2, F18, THAAD, LRASM): Built the Management System with key managers at 15 factories. Developed floor controls with key managers and supervisors, including standard work, short interval controls, escalation processes and variance management. Improved meeting effectiveness and increased focus on metrics and variance. Implemented the MOS and the coaching program with 72 frontline supervisors.
• 2016 Boeing Aerospace Supplier (US) – Delivery – Quality (737MAX, 737NG, 767, 747, 777): Worked on the supplier’s interface points at Boeing factories and flight lines (Everett, Renton & Seattle Delivery Center). Coached on interface behaviors with Boeing mechanics at barges / stalls and onboard Boeing 737s / 7X7s. Also worked on the development of weekly meetings with Boeing at the delivery centers for 737s and 777s to increase FLRFs and reduce NFFs. Designed and implemented the Management System and upgraded current tools to measure new KPIs and increase performance. Supervisory Coaching.
• 2015 Gold Mine (Burkina Faso) – Mine Operations – Load & Haul: Designed, implemented and coached on upgraded MOS tools (Management Operating System, SIC – Short Interval Controls). Redesigned tool to measure hourly in-pit performance (current system didn’t provide adequate data). Delivered in-pit coaching and ensured proper CAT loading techniques were used. Organized T3 training for sustainability (coaching, audits). Delivered first year client-approved operational savings of $7.5m.
• 2015 Midstream O&G Company (US) – Operations: Designed and produced the trucking supervisor training materials. Delivered the operational training to field supervisors in Texas and Oklahoma. Trained the trainers for sustainability.
• 2014 Upstream O&G Company (US) – Operations: Mapped the electrical maintenance process, identified opportunities and assisted with the sale of the project. Presented findings to the top client. Project sold. On the field implementation phase, designed the MOS for field supervisors, redesigned meetings (agendas, action logs), implemented the Skills Flex Matrix, and designed / implemented the Rig Visit Punch List.
• 2014 Gold Mines (Suriname & Burkina Faso) – Mine Maintenance: Mapped the maintenance planning and execution processes with the employees, conducted backlog, work order, and activity studies (DILOs – Day In the Life Of) and produced a statistical analysis. Presented findings to the top client. Projects sold.
• 2014 Packaging Plant (US) – Planning & Scheduling: Better scheduling to optimize production. Designed and led operator Kaizen events to identify what product families work well together and ensured new parameters were set in their proprietary systems (KIWI, PCS). This helped reduce setup times by 42% on the converting side and the backlog. Mapped out the entire Quote to Schedule Process Flow, designed SLAs (shipping, sales), and improved the design and quality of the Daily Scheduling Meeting.
• 2013 Class I Railroad Company (US) – Intermodal Operations: Worked at multiple locations across the footprint to install better communication flows and tools. Developed, designed, installed, and coached multiple tools in order to attain sustainable performance objectives by running shorter and denser trains. Enabled the crews to reduce the number of switches needed to perform the same task. Conducted numerous day, night, and weekend studies at the major yards. At smaller locations, we installed similar, tailor-made, tools, to enable each terminal to attain its assigned project goals. We conducted weekly coaching sessions with local management to foster higher performance with all previously installed terminals. Assisted in the design of the MOS, major tools.
• 2011-12 Mobile Telecom Company (Sri Lanka) – Finance / Procurement: Streamlined the vendor base to 100 from 600 vendors. Identified key lapses in the Marketing MOS and procurement departments and implemented solutions to correct them. Designed and implemented an MOS in the marketing department to control $2B rupees in annual spend. Increased communication across departments to accelerate new product launches.
• 2011 Gold Mine (Ghana) – Supply Chain, Throughput Optimization, Maintenance: Worked with the client team to analyze the Supply Chain, build the As-Is and To-Be MOS as well the relevant process tools and procedures. Designed and installed an enhanced communication flow between Mine Operations, the Control Room, and Maintenance supported by a robust SIC Tool to measure current in-pit performance. Worked with the client to create and/or redesign metrics and tools, and installed them. Coached client team to install new MOS. Field coaching of supervisors (Load & Haul, Mine Maintenance). The project reached its goal (from 45kt/d to 72kt/d).
• 2011 Copper Mine (Australia) – Underground Maintenance: Mapped out the As-Is process of the underground mine maintenance, identified gaps in the processes and systems, conducted surveys of supervisory behaviors. Project sold.
• 2010 Global Cement Producer (US/Canada) – Sales Force Effectiveness: Lead the client team to build the As-Is Sales Process Maps, RACIs and their To-Be equivalent as well the relevant process tools and forms. Helped the team visualize and merge their three distinct sales processes into one more efficient one. Designed and delivered the executive sales training sessions to the Leadership and the Target Account teams. Designed and rolled out the in-the-field coaching program (including tools). Assisted the MOS and Scorekeeping teams. The project has realized benefits of $8m in increased revenue.
• 2008-09 Large Publisher (US) – Sales Force Optimization and Revenue Enhancement: Participated in the development of a large-scale customer-centric sales training program. Facilitated Change Management workshops to sales managers (Right Turns and Wonder Water). Delivered the sales training to 500 sales reps and 80 sales managers. Prepped regional sales directors for the installation of a Sales MOS and KPIs. Delivered in-the-field executive coaching. Handled scheduling and logistics for the 28-State installation. This project generated an uplift of $100m in sales.
