Financial risk management -functional architect

MUREX , Paris 16 - Permanent contract

From February 2014 to Today

• Acted as the Risk area manager for a front to back to risk transformation program (from different legacy systems to Murex) for a Tier 1 European bank (2019 net profit €2.2billion) covering Risk control, Credit Risk and Market Risk business processes across several asset classes (Interest Rates, FX , Money Market ) and covering locations across 3 continents (Europe, Asia and North America)
• Implemented the Market Risk business process including Historical Var (1D and 10D), Stressed Var, Stress Testing and Back testing. Also implemented the portfolio-based limit control structure comprising of several risk inputs like DV01, FX delta and Notional
• Responsible for the FRTB standard approach implementation in Murex for the bank based on Basel 2019 recommendations. The scope covered the following Risk classes: GIRR, CRS-NS, CSR-NCTP, FX and Commodities. Also responsible for validation of the Risk charge numbers generated in Murex as a part of the ISDA FRTB SA benchmarking initiative.
• Designed and Implemented the XVA Business process for the trading desks. The business process consisted of:
- Real time monitoring of trade level BCVA and FVA fees
- Monitoring in batch mode of a wider range of XVA results: exposure profiles, XVA sensitivities, XVA trade-level attributions
- Hedging of different XVA risks
- Monitoring daily P&L of the XVA desk
• Designed and implemented trade level compliance checks depending on trade maturity and other trade characteristics
• Worked as the Collateral Management stream lead for a greenfield implementation for a leading UK bank (2019 net profit £788 million)
• Implemented the day to day margin management process for CSA and GMRA agreements as well as for agreements covering CCP and Central banks. The process composed of daily computation and generation of margin calls, processing of those margin calls, dispute resolution, substitution of collateralized assets and interest computation. Also designed the process for specific margin calls for unilateral collateral agreements, where the call for margin was dependent on the rating of the counterparty. When the counterparty’s rating(s) fell below a certain threshold, a call for margin was triggered.
• Designed and implemented the global inventory management business process with inputs from the treasury desk assets as well as the collateral desk inventory comprising of held and pledged collateral assets
• Designed and implemented concentration and correlation limit checks for the management of Collateral inventory. Checks included:
- Issuer level concentration checks
- Security type level concentration checks (e.g. Non-sovereign bonds)
- Security level concentration checks (e.g. amount pledged compared to total amount issued)
- Limit check for wrong way risk

• Acted as the Team lead for Credit Risk and Collateral Management stream for a migration project in a leading Italian bank
• This role required implementation of Counterparty Pre-settlement risk (Basel II methodology), Settlement risk and Issuer Risk Limits management across the bank’s Fixed Income, Interest Rates, FX and Equity Derivatives desk.

Senior consultant

From July 2006 to August 2011


• Analyzed quantitative divergence between actual cash flows and liquidity forecasts for a company (revenue US$ 36 billion) to facilitate cash management, reduced transaction costs due to cash transfer by 25% and increased net interest income from disposable cash
• Designed payment prioritization and authorization structure to prevent non-purpose cash spending and unreasonable reservation & use of working capital and to facilitate efficient allocation of the limited amount of disposable cash
• Optimized number of payments to eliminate intra-group debts to improve the quality of the assets side of the entities’ balance sheet
• Captured technical requirements such as stock status and consumption for an electrode producing company to develop a production planning interface to improve efficiency for handling manufacturing capacity of 78,000 tonnes per annum
• Conducted extensive interviews with various client stakeholders to gather requirements to fully automate the Human Resource management process to manage 1700 employees
• Implemented, while leading a team of 7 consultants, a state of art ERP Portal solution automating the entire HRM function saving client of further manual operational work
• Coordinated with cross-functional teams comprising of 20 core team members and 6 consultants of an overseas ERP implementation and support project resulting in improvement of operating efficiency with respect to issues resolved by 20%
