ESSEC Masterclass: China and Europe, what stakes in 2020? by Philippe Le Corre
Watch the replay of the online masterclass that Philippe Le Corre, Visiting Professor at ESSEC and Senior Research Fellow at IRENE, gave on YouTube on May 14. The ongoing Covid-19 pandemic has underlined China’s growing geopolitical role. For the past decade, China has become more assertive economically and diplomatically. This has especially been the case around the time of the 2008-2010 previous financial crisis in Europe, when Chinese companies increased their investments in debt-ridden countries, which led to the record years of 2015 and 2016. In this masterclass, Philippe Le Corre reports on the state of Sino-European relations, and how Europeans perceive China’s rise in the current context. He also addresses the policy issues in a year that was supposed to celebrate the friendly relations between the EU and China.
