ESSEC Appointments: CNED, Hertz, Real Madrid, and more

Education, mobilities, sport, healthcare and film; some of the recent appointments within the ESSEC network.

Jean-Noël Tronc (E93) has been appointed Managing Director of the CNED, the historic leader of distance learning in France. Jean-Noël Tronc has worked in the technology sector, for Accenture and Orange, in media at Canal Plus, where he developed the international French-speaking offer, more particularly in Africa, Poland and Vietnam, and in the cultural sector for the SACEM, which he guided through its transformation for ten years. He has also worked for the European Parliament, at the General Planning Commission and as advisor to Prime Minister Lionel Jospin, for whom he oversaw the implementation of the government action plan for the information society, the first priority of which was the development of digital science in the educational sector. He was also a member of the Scientific Committee for School Education, chaired by Edgard Morin, and Vice-President of the Expert Committee for the examination of applications to the “E-Education” call for projects, launched as an initiative of the French National Fund for Digital Society (FSN). The son of a teacher, he has taught at Sciences Po, HEC and ENA.

Audrey Détrie (E09) has been appointed Chief Operating Officer at Ulysse, which facilitates online booking for plane tickets. She began her career at SFR, and then moved to Rakuten France to manage B2B marketing and merchandising, before taking up a position in business development for the M6 Group. Since 2020 she had been Managing Director of Trainline International, a rail ticket sale platform with an annual turnover of €600 million.

Barbara Steinert (E96) has been appointed Chief Revenue Officer of Dayuse, the leader in day bookings for hotel rooms, operating in 26 countries. She worked for the M6 Group for more than 15 years, in particular as Director of Development and Strategy, followed by Director of M6 Mobile. She then became Deputy Managing Director at France Télévisions Publicités. This was followed by the position of Chief Operating Officer Europe at Octoly, a networking platform for brands and influencers. She is also a member of the ESSEC Alumni board of administration, as well as that of the regional newspaper Dernières Nouvelles d’Alsace, and supports projects with high international potential through The Alchemists.

Laurence Caurette (EXEC PROG 11) has been appointed Managing Director of the Healthy Group, a network of 400 pharmacies with an annual turnover of €1.4bn. With a background in marketing, she has held high-level management positions for almost 25 years. She has worked as International Products Manager for the Seb Group, Sales and Store Operations Manager for Lapeyre, Product and Sales Manager at Jardiland and Executive Director at Atol Les Opticiens, among others.

Pascale Roque (E84) has been appointed Managing Director of Hertz France. Having worked as Caribbean & Indian Ocean Sales Manager for the airline Air France, followed by experience in the hotel sector as Manager of Etap Hotel and F1 France for Accor, Managing Director of the B&B Hotels group, CEO of Pierre et Vacances Tourisme and President of the SNRT (French National Union of Tourist Residences and Serviced Flats), she is now moving into a new branch of the travel sector. Her most recent position was Managing Director of Tourism for Atream, an asset and property management firm specialising in the hotel sector.

François Guerin (E06) has been appointed Chief Content Officer at Real Madrid in Spain. This is his first experience in the sports sector, but he is no stranger to the content field nor high-ranking international positions. He has held previous positions at TF1, Yahoo Media in Los Angeles, where he rose to the position of Senior Director of Strategy and Operations, and lastly Verizon Media, where he was Chief of Staff and VP, Head of Studios & Media Operations.

Nathalie Perus (E98) has been appointed General Manager of Atlantique Productions. A graduate of Columbia University, she has 20 years of experience in the audio-visual field. She began her career with television channels, in particular as Head of Programming for Canal Plus, and Director of Development at Fox International Channels France. She then moved into production, with a stint in literary management at EuropaCorp, before creating her own company, Sparkles Production. She has worked as a screenwriter on numerous international and European series, launched the French in Motion organisation, which brings together French film and audio-visual professionals in the USA, and created the transatlantic co-production programme US&French Connection.

Camille Mounier (E05) has been appointed CEO of Vulco France, the tyre manufacturing network for motorists, haulage firms, civil engineering companies and farmers. Her most recent position was with Goodyear France  as Consumer Marketing Manager, and she previously held several marketing roles in the Mattel group.
