The CEO of ESSEC is off to conquer China. In late October, Vincenzo Esposito Vinzi travelled to Shanghai and then Beijing, in order to build partnerships and meet our alumni in the area.

Vincenzo Esposito Vinzi never stops. He had barely closed the Commencement Day ceremony on 22 October when he took off for Shanghai, where he was invited to give a talk on “The Business School’s Impacts on Social Development” at IBSSC, a conference organised by Antai College of Economics and Management (ACEM). It was a chance to meet the dean of Antai – which is part of Shanghai’s Jiao Tong University, behind Shanghai’s prestigious rankings – as well as to tighten links with the Fudan School of Management, a member of the Council on Business and Society alongside ESSEC. Not to mention a visit to the local branch of CCI France International, for a fun evening with around 60 alumni, invited by Matthieu David-Experton (E09), chairman of Chinese Chapter global alumni and the Shanghai chapter.

Next, Vincenzo Esposito Vinzi set off for Beijing where he visited Guanghua School of Management at Beijing University (PKU), a historic ESSEC partner, and made first contact with the PKU School of Government, which offers a range of master’s in public affairs. His evenings were also busy, with a gala dinner hosted by the CCI and attended by many figures from the business world, and a meeting with around 40 alumni, organised by Tianhe Ji (E12), chair of the Beijing chapter.

The trip also made time for fruitful discussions with members of the consulate and embassy in both Beijing and Shanghai.

So what’s next? The aim is to take things further, and fast. Members of the board of directors are reaching out to contacts that were made to offer proposals and consolidate links between the school and China in 2019. Watch this space!
