Charlotte Dauzat (E09) and Kim Lamza won over the British market with Gato, their brand of delicious healthy desserts.

Raised in Provence on the Mediterranean diet, Charlotte Dauzat nevertheless has a weakness for cake. It was thanks to a stay in Brazil, where she discovered chia seeds, acai berries, coconut oil, and green banana flour, that she began to play around with recipes to make sweet treats that found a happy medium between her sweet tooth and desire for simple, natural cuisine that promotes good health. And so Gato was born.

Charlotte Dauzat then packed her bags to study pastry and confectionery at Le Cordon Bleu in London. From there, she created her first desserts, and her chocolate and aubergine fondant caught the eye of the British. Gato was launched in Selfridges in 2017, exclusive to the famous luxury department store, before being picked up by Sainsbury’s supermarkets a few months later.

Since then, Kim Lamza has joined the venture, and the brand can be found on the shelves of more than 200 stores in the United Kingdom. The next stage is the French launch in 2019.
