The recent appointments throughout our network are testament to the diverse range of careers ESSEC graduates embark upon, with alumni serving in executive management at multinational companies, within the great European institutions, and leading the battle to defend human rights. Let’s take a look.

Nicolas Hieronimus (E85) has been appointed CEO of L’Oréal, following a 35-year career with the cosmetics giant that boasts a turnover of €30 bn. His achievements include the launch of the now iconic Fructis shampoo, the boom in sales for Lancôme, Yves Saint Laurent, Armani, and Kiehl, and successful acquisitions of the American brands Urban Decay and IT Cosmetics, as well as the development of travel retail.

Nicolas Namias (E01) has been promoted to CEO of Natixis. He has been tasked with developing and implementing the group’s new strategic plan. Eminently qualified with stints at ENA, Sciences Po Paris, Stanford, and the London School of Economics and Political Science, he has already served in a number of management positions at Natixis, having begun his career as an advisor to Jean-Marc Ayrault, the French Prime Minister.

Pascale Cartier (M88) has been appointed Director of Global Food Production at Auchan Retail. Yet another change of industry for this versatile manager who began her career at L’Oréal Luxe before founding a marketing consultancy and occupying a series of roles as Director of Shops and Services at Aéroports de Paris, marketing director and member of the executive board at Monoprix, and as CEO of La Vie Saine.

Vincent Caro (M96) has been promoted to CEO of Safran Nacelles, one of the two main global manufacturers of aircraft engine nacelles, with over 22,000 pieces of equipment in service at over 260 airlines. In this new role, he will be joining the group’s executive board, and managing more than 4000 employees spread across 13 sites in 8 countries.

Agathe Derain (E06) has been appointed Head of Human Rights at Chanel, where she previously served as the Director of Sustainable Supply for the perfume and beauty division. In this role newly created for the ESSEC graduate, she will identify and manage potential risks in the group’s international supply chain. She is also a member of the NGO, Human Resources Without Borders.

Audrey Détrie (E09) has been promoted to CEO of Trainline International, the leading European train and bus ticket sales platform. She will be tasked with growing the brand in continental Europe, while remaining the spokesperson for the brand in France. In the past she has filled roles in primarily digital marketing at SFR, Priceminister/Rakuten, and M6 Web. She is also a member of the Women in Tourism network.

Geoffroy Didier (E00), Member of the European Parliament and deputy chairman of the Ile-de-France regional council, was elected Vice-Chair of the European Parliament’s new Special Committee on Artificial Intelligence in a Digital Age, created to tackle one of the two priorities in the EU recovery plan after the environment. According to Le Monde, proposals from this former advisor to a number of government ministers and alumnus of Harvard and Columbia include: scanning a piece of ID when creating a social media account, improving online protection for victims of harassment, and giving social media platforms responsibilities beyond their status as a host and nothing else.

Aurélie Cohen (E11) has been appointed Director of Communications and Investor Relations at Euronext. Her role is to consolidate the brand and the positioning of the primary infrastructure of the pan-European market forming a bridge between local economies and global capital markets.
