Leaders of major companies, senior public officials… along with a recipient of the National Order of Merit and two Legion of Honour awards! A selection of recent appointments within the network.

Three ESSEC graduates have received some of the most prestigious distinctions of the French Republic. Fabrice Barlesi (EXEC PROG 08) has been awarded the National Order of Merit for his leadership at Gustave Roussy, Europe’s largest cancer research centre and the 5th best oncology hospital in the world – the 1st outside the United States. Anne de Louvigny Stone (E83) and Geoffroy Roux de Bézieux (E84) have been appointed Knight and Officer of the Legion of Honour, respectively. The former is Senior Vice President at Merrill Lynch Wealth Management in New York, following positions at Bain & Company, Bouygues, Eco-Emballages, and American Express. The latter is Honorary President of MEDEF and has devoted his professional life to entrepreneurship and investment. 

Thierry Sancier (E93) has been appointed Head of JP Morgan in Paris. He began his career with Indosuez in Southeast Asia before joining Goldman Sachs in London in the M&A department, particularly active in the media, banking, and insurance sectors. He later returned to Paris to oversee major clients, rising through the ranks to become Managing Director and then Partner. 

Damien Cazé (E95) has been appointed President of the Fourth Chamber of the Court of Auditors. A graduate of ENA, Ponts et Chaussées, and Sciences Po Paris, he served in the office of Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin before becoming Director of Maritime Fisheries and Aquaculture, then Director of Maritime Affairs. He later became Deputy Director General of Universcience, and subsequently Head of Unit in the office of Prime Minister Édouard Philippe, overseeing issues related to ecology, transport, energy, housing, and agriculture. Until recently, he was Director General of Civil Aviation (DGAC).

Amélie Oudéa-Castéra (E02) has been appointed President of the French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF) – a natural progression for this former Minister of Sports and Olympic Games and former French tennis champion. A graduate of ENA and Sciences Po Paris, she has held senior positions such as Executive Director of E-commerce, Data and Digital Transformation at Carrefour, Chief Marketing, Brand, Service and Digital Officer at Axa, and Managing Director of the French Tennis Federation (FFT).

Adam Oubuih (E07) has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Atout France, a public-private economic interest group and the French government’s tourism agency. Also a graduate of ENA, he began his career with InfraRed Capital Partners, BNP Paribas Clean Energy Fund and Société Générale before joining the Caisse des Dépôts Group as Deputy Regional Director for the Grand Est region, then as Investment Director for Industry, Logistics, and Complex Real Estate. He went on to serve as President of Victoires Haussmann, a real estate asset management company, and later as CEO of Groupe Avec, a healthcare and social impact company serving 1.7 million patients with more than 10,000 employees and 285 facilities. 

Émilie Couton (E02) has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Accor Plus, the Accor Group’s loyalty programme. She has worked for over 20 years within the hotel group, holding various senior positions in sales, digital marketing, and customer experience across Thailand and Singapore. Her most recent roles include Senior Vice President of Account Management & Partnerships APAC, and Managing Director for the Asia-Pacific region of D-Edge Hospitality Solutions. 

Arthur Lemoine (E09) has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Galeries Lafayette. This is his fifth senior management position within the group, where he has previously led the Food & Catering division, chaired the Louis Pion Royal Quartz brand, and headed Merchandising and Purchasing for BHV Marais. 

Rami Karam (E06) has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Sport Découverte, France’s leading platform for online sales and bookings of experiences, offering over 5,000 activities. He began his career at Orange in CRM before joining Syniverse Technologies as Product Manager, then E-merchant (a Pixmania subsidiary) as Account Director for Carrefour. He subsequently became CEO of Les Furets, an online comparison platform, and later of La Centrale de Financement, a mortgage brokerage firm.

Fabrice Ruggeri (M11) has been appointed Managing Director of Organon France, a pharmaceutical company specialising in women’s health (contraception, menopause, maternity). He began at Grenoble University Hospital before becoming Assistant Product Manager at Abbott Laboratories, then spent ten years at AbbVie, where he rose to Regional Director. 

Danielle Cillien-Sabatier (E82) has been appointed Director of Heritage at Chanel. She began in media advertising (Groupe Express, La Cinq, VSD) before taking on marketing leadership roles in media groups (Le Parisien, France Télévisions). She later moved into publishing at Emap, then into events management as General Manager of easyFairs. She went on to serve as General Manager of Librairie Galignani, a prestigious English-language bookstore in Paris. After 15 years, she founded 1961 D.C.S., her independent consulting business. 

Paolo da Silva (EXEC M22) has been appointed Director of Development, Marketing and Services at Unéo, . Over a 25-year career in marketing, he has held operational roles at Coca-Cola and Carrefour, and senior management positions at Carphone Warehouse, Bouygues Telecom, and LCL, where he became Chief Strategy, Marketing, Digital & Commercial Plan Officer. In parallel, he has invested in two vineyards – Lussac Saint-Émilion and Lalande Pomerol – promoting sustainable French winemaking.

Schany Taix (E05) has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Fédération des Particuliers Employeurs de France, representing 3.3 million French households employing over 1.2 million domestic workers. He began as Administrative and Financial Manager at consulting firm Weebis before launching his own consultancy, Equinox. He later joined the Interinstitutional Centres for Skills Assessment (CIBC), where he successively served as Director of CIBC Alpes Provence, Network Coordinator for CIBC PACA, and then General Delegate of the National Federation of CIBCs. He subsequently became CEO of APM - Association Progrès du Management, a community of 417 clubs in 38 countries dedicated to peer learning among business leaders.

Jazil Lounis (M22) and Fahima Mohamad (M22) have joined the first cohort of the French Democracy Campus, a non-partisan programme sponsored by Jean-Pierre Raffarin and led by the Valéry Giscard d’Estaing Foundation, designed to engage young elected officials and future leaders in reflection on democracy and major contemporary issues alongside senior policymakers. The former is a lawyer at Arié Alimi Avocats and Associate Expert at the ESSEC European Centre for Law and Economics; he has already been recognised with the 2021 VGE Prize for Europe and the 2022 Skadden Diversity Award. The latter is Legal Counsel at Sanofi in Dubai.
